LifeStraw started as a simple mesh filter designed as a straw to tackle Guinea worm disease by eliminating the parasite from drinking water. In 1994, a partnership with The Carter Center led to the development of the mesh filter to remove Guinea worm larvae from drinking water. Since then, we have expanded to design water filtration systems for outdoor and home use.

LifeStraw's mission is to provide equitable access to safe water for all. For every LifeStraw product purchased, a school child in need receives safe water for a year. Our products are designed to remove bacteria, parasites, and microplastics, ensuring clean and safe drinking water.

LifeStraw Home is a modern and sleek water filter that removes 30+ contaminants, including bacteria, microplastics, and PFAS. The Microfiltration Membrane removes 99.999999% of waterborne bacteria and 99.999% of waterborne parasites, making the water safe to drink. It also removes the smallest microplastics found in the environment and reduces turbidity. Our products undergo rigorous testing and all claims are verified with laboratories using standard testing protocols set by the US EPA, NSF, and ASTM for water purifiers.

The microbiological filter of LifeStraw provides 4,000 liters (1,000 gallons) of clean and safe drinking water with proper use and maintenance. Our materials are BPA-free, reflecting our commitment to providing safe and healthy products.
